Installing IBM Integration Bus on Windows

This blogs walks you through on how to install IIB developer edition on windows. At the end of this Blog you’ll have the setup of IIB on your machine and You can start developing flows.

Prerequisites : IIB from V10 has no prerequisites.

Step1: Download: Free version of IIB can be downloaded from the IBM passport advantage.

The above link will take you to the IBM login page. If you do not have an IBM account create one. After login you’ll be able to see the download page as shown below.

Select the version of IIB you want to download and press on continue. This will take you to the next screen as shown below.

After selecting the options, scroll to the bottom and select the I agree to agree the terms and conditions and then click I confirm. On the Next screen you’ll be able to see the download screen, go to Download using http tab and download the windows installable.

Step2: Install: The above step will start downloading the .exe file. After downloading the .exe file, right click on it and run it as administrator. That will open the installation setup. Select the installation path by clicking on options and then click OK.

A Step3: Verify: After successful installation, you should be able to see IBM Integration Toolkit 10.0.0.X and IBM Integration Console 10.0.0.X.

Launch the toolkit by running it as administrator. This will open the toolkit with welcome page. Close the welcome page, which will take you to the Integration Development perspective. On the bottom left, you’ll be able to see the Integration Node view where you can manage the Integration Nodes. The installation should create a default Integration Node as TESTNODE_username which has a default Integration Server in it.

If you do not see a Integration Node and a Integration Server created by default follow the below steps:

  1. Make sure you have the admin rights and you have launched IIB toolkit as admin.
  2. Go to Computer Management and then Services and in services make sure that the for services IBM Integration Bus MasterServices logon type is LocalSystem.
